Looking from a biblical perspective, there is a strong precedence in the Bible for “house of prayer.”
We see in the Old Testament that there was worship and prayer going on regularly both in the Tabernacle and the Temple. When King David established the Tabernacle, he set up Levites who were to be “ministers before the ark of the LORD, to invoke, to thank, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel.” (1 Chronicles 16:4). Solomon’s Temple also had Levitical singers ministering to God continually.
In Isaiah 56:7, God speaks about foreigners joining themselves to the LORD, to minister and love Him: ““These [foreigners] I will bring to My holy mountain and give them joy in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” This is the verse Jesus quotes when he cleared out the temple of the money-changers in Mark 11:17.
Lastly, the heart of the House of Prayer is to bring heaven to earth by modeling our worship after what is happening continually in Heaven’s Throne Room in Revelation 4 & 5. “And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, ‘Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.”
Our hearts cry out with the words of King David in Psalm 27:4 & Psalm 84. All we want is to be in the presence of God, to gaze upon His beauty and to bring our hearts and prayers before Him.
Practically speaking, the House of Prayer is not a church. The goal of the House of Prayer is to provide a place to seek God in prayer and worship. A church’s focus encompasses more; including devotion to teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. (Acts 2:42).
There are a variety of different ministry models that follow the House of Prayer model. UpperRoom, IHOPKC, and Burn 24/7 led by Sean Feucht are a few examples. The term “House of Prayer” is used by many organizations large and small, and is loose enough to allow organic expression of each individual community’s unique worship.

The Well HOP is not a church. The goal of the Well is to provide a place to seek God in prayer and worship. A church’s focus encompasses more; including devotion to teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. (Acts 2:42).
The Well exists to partner with local churches by providing a space devoted to seeking God, ministering to His heart, and intercession.

Our desire is to emulate the prayer going on in Heaven, which couples prayer and worship. “And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and the golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” (Revelation 5:8)
We believe that when we worship along with prayer, our focus and adoration is re-aligned to rest on the Everlasting and All Powerful God. It stirs our faith and emboldens us to believe in the promises of God that we remind ourselves through song. It helps connect our minds and hearts to the presence of God.
Jesus is the great Intercessor. If we seek His face and His friendship, we can better partner with His will and pray the prayers He is praying over us. We want to pray in His name, not our own!
This question may best be answered if you come and experience this model of prayer, often referred to as “harp and bowl” prayer!
We also have prayer sessions called “Read & Pray” sessions where we pray through a passage of Scripture, using the Bible as our prayer guide. Again, it’s best to come check it out to get a good idea of how this goes!

24/7 prayer and worship is happening in the throne room of God (Revelation 4 & 5). 24/7 prayer rooms seek to reflect that continual worship on earth as it is in heaven.
The tabernacle of David also had 24/7 prayer and worship, “Now these, the singers, the heads of fathers’ houses of the Levites, were in the chambers of the temple free from other service, for they were on duty day and night.” (1 Chronicles 9:33)
The Well in Morrisons Cove affirms the vision and mandate to establish 24/7 prayer and worship across the earth and hope to partner with this vision someday as we continue to grow. For now, we thank God for the resources and opportunities we have to be in His presence.
There is a lengthy history of 24/7 prayer and the impact it has had on the world. For more information, check out https://www.ihopkc.org/prayerroom/history/
